Design & Build
The Realme 15x 5G presents a rugged and durable aesthetic, with IP69 Pro certification for water and dust resistance and a military-grade drop protection design. It measures around 8.28 mm in thickness and weighs about 212 g, which is a bit on the heavier side, largely due to its large battery. The back features a “Crystal Wave” design and includes a pulse light notification ring.
The body feels solid in the hand, especially given the rugged protections. But the mass and weight may make it less comfortable for prolonged one-handed use.
Display
The phone sports a 6.8-inch HD+ panel (1570 × 720 px) with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of ~1200 nits in high brightness mode. The screen covers ~90.4% of the front face. It uses an IPS / LCD type display (rather than OLED), which is typical in this class.
The 144 Hz refresh rate offers smoother animations and transitions, especially in scrolling and UI interactions. However, because the resolution is only HD+, fine detail may not be as sharp compared to Full HD or higher displays. Color accuracy and contrast are decent for its class, but it’s not meant to compete with flagship OLEDs.
Performance & Software
Under the hood, the Realme 15x 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 (6 nm process) chipset, with clock speeds up to ~2.4 GHz. It is paired with RAM options of 6 GB or 8 GB, with a feature to extend dynamic RAM virtually (up to 10 GB). Storage options go up to 256 GB, and the storage is expandable via microSD.
In everyday use—browsing, social media, messaging—the performance should be smooth and responsive. But heavy 3D games or high-performance tasks may push the limits of this chipset. Some reviewers mention that the processor is decent but not “top tier” for gaming.
The phone ships with Android 15 under Realme UI 6.0 (as reported).
Camera System
One of the interesting choices in the Realme 15x is that both the rear and front cameras use 50 MP sensors.
Rear camera: Sony IMX852, f/1.8, 76° FoV
Front (selfie): OmniVision OV50D40, f/2.4, 87° FoV
Supported features include HDR, AI enhancements, cinematic modes, dual-view video, and an underwater video mode. Video is limited to 1080p@30fps (or 60fps for the front side) — there is no support for 4K.
In good lighting, the images should be respectable for social media and everyday snapshots. In lower light, the lack of specialized lenses (no ultra-wide, telephoto, or large aperture) may limit performance. Some reviewers point out that having only a single rear lens is a drawback in today’s multi-camera standard.
Battery & Charging
This is one of the star features: a 7,000 mAh “Titan” battery (typical) powers the device. Realme claims that this capacity allows 2 days of use under moderate usage. It supports 60W fast charging (SuperVOOC) via a bundled 80W charger. The battery supports reverse charging (i.e. using the phone as a power bank for other devices).
In practice, this means you won’t need to reach for the charger too often. But full charging from zero to 100% might still take more time compared to higher-wattage charging systems in flagships.
Connectivity & Extras
The phone supports dual 5G (SA/NSA) and a wide array of frequency bands. It comes with WiFi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS.
Other features:
Side-mounted fingerprint sensor
Stereo speaker setup with “Ultra Volume” mode for loud audio
No mention of NFC in specs (which may be a limitation depending on region)
Pros & Cons Summary
👍 Pros 👎 Cons
Huge 7,000 mAh battery with fast charging and reverse charging Single rear camera limits photographic versatility
Rugged design with IP69 Pro and drop resistance HD+ display (not Full HD) reduces sharpness in some contexts
144 Hz refresh rate for smooth UI Bulkier and heavier build, not ideal for one-handed use
Decent front + rear 50 MP cameras Performance is solid but not high-end — may struggle with heavy gaming
Good software (Android 15 / Realme UI) No support for 4K video recording
Verdict
The Realme 15x 5G is a compelling option in its class for users who value long battery life, durability, balanced camera capability, and a high refresh rate display over flagship-level performance or ultra-premium camera systems. If your priority is a phone that lasts, can survive rougher conditions, and handles daily tasks well, this device delivers excellent value.
